Reducing Class Size-ASU

Greg Glau @ Arizona State University shares a report on a university-sponsored initiative at ASU that resulted in lower class sizes, reduced workload, and positive effects for students and faculty.

From Greg’s email to WPA-L (7/24/2006):

The short version: smaller classes (we went from a cap of 26 to 19 on our 100-level classes) brought
  • higher pass rates
  • lower DWE (drop, withdraw, failure) rates
  • better fall-spring continuation rates
  • better course evaluations for all levels of faculty teaching 100-level courses.
